Ben and Corey finally talk about Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War,” the big blockbuster opener to the summer 2016 movie season. They both loved it, but Ben points out one or two quibbles he had with its themes and some other geeky nitpicks. The guys then look ahead to the rest of the summer movie season, which almost seems like a barren landscape now that its biggest fish is already out of the water. They also talk about the news that Daniel Craig could be done with James Bond and do Hollywood a favor by casting the next 007. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN OR DOWNLOAD!!!…

Ben and Corey square off on Zack Snyder’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” the latest from Warner Bros. and DC Comics. One hates it, one likes it. They get into specifics and also talk about the general backlash over the movie and where the studio might go from here. Since it’s been a while since they last recorded, the guys also briefly unpack the 2015 film year, finally saying goodbye to another wonderful year at the movies. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN/DOWNLOAD!!! It’s once again time to share with you my favorite movie music of the year. 2015 had a lot of really, really good music from some of our greatest living composers including legends like John Williams and even Ennio Morricone . I still haven’t seen every movie, but I’ve sampled pretty much all I can of those I’ve yet to see. Still, I went with scores and songs from films I did catch up with, especially since the context in which the music is used is so important and is why it worked for me. My biggest surprise in movie music this year is that so few scores with a full orchestra made my list. You’ll hear lots of electronically powered work from some remarkable modern artists, but that said, there is no movie music of the year list without some full orchestra, and from the very best at it. That said, please enjoy as I share my favorite music I heard in movies during 2015. Ben and Corey look back at summer 2015 and look ahead to the busy fall and winter 2015. They break down their favorite moments and films from a solid summer season that brought “Inside Out,” “Straight Outta Compton,” “Tangerine,” “Mad Max Fury Road” and so much more. They break down their most anticipated movies for the fall and winter season, including “Spectre,” “Spotlight,” “The Good Dinosaur” and some dinky little production called, I don’t know, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” y’all.” CLICK HERE TO LISTEN/DOWNLOAD!!! Our friend Ben Stark’s new short film “Dead Saturday” stars Oscar-nominee Eric Roberts (“Inherent Vice,” “The Dark Knight,” “Runaway Train”) as Pastor Malcolm and Kurt Krause (“True Detective”) as troubled youth Jimmy, who interprets a loophole in the Bible as a free pass to sin without consequence on the Saturday before Easter. Acclaimed young Shoals-area band The Bear contributed an original score. The film will screen at Druid City Brewing Company in Tuscaloosa on July 11 at 6 p.m. A Q&A with the filmmakers will follow, with another screening of the movie right after. After a series of statewide screenings, the filmmakers will then take the film to as many regional film festivals as they can manage, including this year’s Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, so stay tuned for programming information. Ben talked to Stark about the themes and ideas explored in this film, why the short format suited this project, how to find the right people to help make it and how he plans to get more eyes on the movie moving forward. The guys finally sit down to analyze the second teaser trailers for “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens,” which stirred one or two emotions within before watching it 20 more times. They also discuss the “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” teaser, shockingly disagreeing on its merits and potential. Also on tap are Jared Leto’s Joker look, the creepy cool “Spectre” teaser, plus a short list of other teaser trailers that prompted similar emotional responses. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN/DOWNLOAD!!! AL.com Birmingham news manager and deliriously hapless Chicago Cubs fan Alex Walsh joins Ben to explore the best examples of the baseball movie genre, as we list each of our top three favorite films set on or around a diamond. Warning: We will leave out a couple that we know you hold near and dear to your hearts, but it’s because we only get three picks apiece and the list is extremely personal. It doesn’t mean we don’t love “Field of Dreams,” “The Natural” and “The Pride of the Yankees.” Oops, spilled some beans, but that’s all the more reason to listen below for our all-time favorite baseball movie picks. They even pick their top three films they’re most looking forward to seeing this season including “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Inside Out.” This summer, you’ll also see new movies from Cameron Crowe, Brad Bird, Judd Apatow and Guy Ritchie.
