Timothy had reported to Paul that some false teachers had crept into the assemble and informed them that the Day of the Lord had already begun. The had responded to this errant teaching with fear and also quitting their jobs to await the second coming of Christ and kingdom. Our passage tonight is central to the purpose of the letter and key for believers like us living in these last days.
