Below is the information to share regarding insured benefit criteria:
Uniform and Civilian Members hired before January 1, 2018
Uniform
• No Pension credit requirement
• Retire with any type of pension
100% paid by the Government of Ontario
Civilian
• 10 years of pension credit at retirement
• Retire with any type of pension
100% paid by the Government of Ontario
Uniform and Civilian Members hired on or after January 1, 2018
Unreduced Pension
• 20 years of pension credit at retirement
• Retire with an immediate unreduced pension
Will be required to pay 50% of the premium for insured benefits upon retirement
Reduced /Deferred Pension
• 20 years of pension credit at retirement
• Retire with a reduced pension or from a deferred status
Will be required to pay 100% of the premium for insured benefits upon retirement (paid by the retiree)
