Oddicombe Beach is a small, sandy beach nestled at the bottom of red sandstone cliffs at Babbacombe Downs, Devon UK.

Babbacombe Cliff Lift: Built in the 1920s it is a funicular railway. It links Babbacombe Downs with Oddicombe Beach.
The setting: The hillside behind Oddicombe Beach is very steep and made from red breccia sandstone. The beach provides exceptional views across Babbacombe Bay and Lyme Bay to the Devon and Dorset coastlines.
Herring Gull: If you listen carefully in the background you may hear some bird cries. These are the Herring Gull. Herring gulls are large, noisy gulls found throughout the year around the coastline of the UK.
Red Cliffs: Oddicombe Beach is surrounded by red coloured breccia cliffs. The cliffs are formed from aeolian (wind-blown) sand which was laid down in a desert in a continental interior in the Permian Period roughly 250 million years ago.
