BEN ANDREWS was born in to a modest hard-working middle-class family. A rising star and one of the top milers in the United States, Ben was set to join the storied University of Oregon Track and Field team. But as quickly as Ben's star began to rise, its brilliance quickly faded.
After graduating from Portland's Parkrose High School in 1992, Ben was one of the top high school milers in the United States and was set to embark on a collegiate career with the Oregon Ducks. Ben had to return for a dreaded 5th year of high school after a transcript debacle stopped him dead in his tracks. As the University of Oregon Track and Field program awaited Ben's arrival, Ben faced allegations, arrest and was facing a 5-15 year sentence inside the cold concrete walls inside the Oregon State Penitentiary.
