Then, on the rest of the menu, Portland, Oregon settled a federal lawsuit over its police use of tear gas and other crowd control weapons; a panel of three federal judges heard closing arguments on whether South Carolina’s heavily gerrymandered US congressional maps are legal; and, journalists with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram newspaper continued their strike, claiming that parent company McClatchy has refused to bargain in good faith over a new contract.
After the break, we move to the Chef’s Table where the head of the International Monetary Fund urged China to end its mass lockdowns; and, a prominent Polish judge has been reinstated amid a standoff with the European Union over judicial independence.
