We have special treat, in this week's episode we have Cullen Gilchrist, CEO and Co-Founder of Union Kitchen with headquarters in Washington, DC and six stores throughout the DC metro area and a distribution channel delivering their products to other grocery stores. Union Kitchen is a food business accelerator that helps start and grow successful food CPG (consumer package good) businesses in the DC area. Cullen grew up in the south coast of Massachusetts, near New Bedford playing sports and ended up attending Dartmouth College and playing defensive end for their football team. He started working in the food industry while in college and decided to make it a career, having several jobs in Boston after college and after a few years moved down to DC in 2010. It all began with him getting a shared kitchen space, and finding a problem and solving it! He loves supporting smart people and building businesses in food so much so that they now have ownership in over 120 CPG companies, bringing in about 10 new companies quarterly and 40 annually. They are building a fund to invest in later stage food CPG companies, a larger facility, and new stores! Cullen shares the importance of having humility and how resiliency is 75% of the equation!
