Golf legend Jack Nicklaus will help the Golf Association of Michigan (GAM) celebrate its Centennial this year. He'll headline a GAM Foundation gala fundraiser on Monday, June 17 at Oakland Hills CC, one of the original 14 clubs to form what would eventually become the GAM.
The event will include golf on the famous South course, dinner and the fireside chat with Jack. Dinner only tickets are available at $300. The GAM 100 Celebration benefits the GAM Foundation including its Youth on Course program which allows kids ages 6 to 18 to play golf for five dollars or less at participating courses.
HOUR Media is the presenting sponsor of the GAM 100 Celebration. Again Dinner only and the fireside chat with Jack Nicklaus tickets are still available at $300 and a limited amount of golf spots are available where you get to play your own ball on the iconic South Course at Oakland Hills.
It was Oakland Hills where in 1961 Jack Nicklaus was fourth in the U.S. Open as a 21-year-old amateur. In 1991 he won the US Senior Open on the South course at Oakland Hills in a playoff with Chi Chi Rodriguez. On a side note Chi Chi's nephew Juan Rodriguez, Aloha Section PGA member is my neighbor and a wonderful person and player.

Steve and I also talk about the GAM participating in the PGA TOUR Rocket Mortgage Classic Birdies for Charities. The program is centered around the first-ever PGA TOUR event in Detroit June 25-30 at the Detroit Golf Club. Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson are among the PGA Tour stars who will be in the field.
Donations can be made by a per birdie pledge or by a flat rate donation. And donations received by May 31 will be entered to win a VIP Package for Two to the Rocket Mortgage Classic. The VIP Package includes two Honorary Observer positions for Saturday. Believe me Honorary Observer at a PGA tournament is very cool!
