Suzanne discusses the how and why of stress—and how it can addict us. She also shares emotional/mental approaches that can help us break the habit
Did you know that stress can be addictive? It actually is, releasing a powerful cocktail of chemicals in our brains that binds us to it ever more strongly. So this one’s for you if you find yourself looping stressful thoughts day in, day out. (I’ve been there!)
But first—and really in the same vein—I share my essay, The Value of Getting Grounded. Being grounded and calm is simpler with this basic grounding exercise anyone can do. Give it a try…and breathe.
Next I share my own personal recovery experience with overcoming my addiction to stress, along with all kinds of ideas for reclaiming your own serenity.
Among other things, I discuss
- The places I found support that really got me clear on this addiction
- The value of letting go, and making amends in this process
- The exact process I went through in reclaiming my own serenity—and releasing that stress
- What Adrenal Fatigue is and what it has to do with chronic stress
- Wise advice from a theater person I know
- How you can get started releasing your own stress
May this inspire some real shifts for you!
Namaste,
Suzanne
