Container Backlogs Hinder Beef Exports

Demand is booming at the retail level for U.S. beef. Joe Schuele tells Aaron Zimmerman e-commerce and home delivery helped that trend during COVID, and are likely here to stay. He says the biggest obstacle facing U.S. beef is the backlog of vessels to export beef overseas. It's causing uneasiness from Asian buyers.
Philippe Coquard of Wollersheim Winery in Prairie Du Sac says healthy grape vines do fine in the winter. He says if you have a weak vine, they will freeze when it gets 10 or 20 below in Wisconsin. That’s when vineyards would see winter kill. Wollersheim’s team will be preparing the vines to go into the cold season “in good health” by making sure the vines are clean, for example.
In 2019, international fast food chain A&W sold over 7 million pounds of Wisconsin cheese curds. Lined up end-to-end, the curds would equal two round trips from Milwaukee to Green Bay, according to Rick Findlay of Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin. That's not the only big partnership Wisconsin Cheese has with national chains. Findlay shares more.
