Taking Charge of Your Mental Health at Work w/Sophia Nelson
Manage episode 336689378 series 3355455
Employers recognize the importance of health and wellness at work, especially regarding mental health, as 86% of employers surveyed by WTW stated that mental health and burnout were a priority. However, despite recognizing these issues, only a quarter of the surveyed employers had adopted a wellbeing strategy, and half haven’t formally articulated a wellbeing strategy.
As workplaces play catch-up with their mental health policies, the onus of taking care of yourself falls on … yourself. On this episode of Find Your Niche: A Career Podcast, host Lori Cole sits down with author Sophia Nelson, who has written three award-winning nonfiction books and tours as a corporate trainer. The subject of one of her books, “Be the One You Need,” covers the life lessons she faced in managing her mental health to help others achieve mental peace in their lives. Lori and Sophia discuss:
• How the COVID-19 pandemic put workers’ focus on their health and wellbeing
• How to engage in self-care and why it is important to do so
• How mental health policies influenced the Great Resignation
