This week we learned not to plant seeds in Straker’s head.

Sometimes I wonder if maybe the biggest threat to SHADO is Straker himself. So many of the things he does seem to be the detriment to the organization as a whole, it’s a hard theory to ignore. Should Straker be replaced? Was Paul onto something in Kill Straker? Find out this week, on Destruction, written by Dennis Spooner and aired on December 2, 1970.

Show-notes:
2:15: Yeah Timelash was written by noted unknown Glen McCoy.
20:51: The amnesia drug in Torchwood was called Retcon.
20:30: Find out more about Peri being a botanist and Mel being a programmer over on Trust Your Doctor: A Doctor Who Podcast, our Doctor Who podcast.
21:25: More information on Billington continuously testing for Bond.
28:21: I couldn’t find out why UFO was aired in whatever order each station wanted to air it in, but the Gerry Anderson wiki notes that certain episodes premiered simultaneously thanks to all the stations that aired the show just doing whatever they want.
30:26: Go read about when the non-dominant hand is better for yourself.
46:30: Ice Station Zebra is a movie that stars Patrick McGoohan, and which is actually kind of boring. (Editor’s note: It gets better in the last 10 minutes, kind of like this episode.)
49:33: Don’t worry Kiyan, here’s some information for you on UFOs.
50:20: It was called alienstock, believe it or not. If only Naruto run guy were there.
52:20: Google’s pronunciation says it’s pronounced fav-ih-con, but Lexico says it’s fave-a-con.
56:57: For context, check out our Blake’s 7 podcast, Zenith: A Blake’s 7 Podcast.
1:01:40: I knew it was a partnership, but K9 was actually created by Bob Baker and Dave Martin, not Pip and Jane Baker.
