In this podcast, we discuss the deadly impact of drugs, especially opioids, and what a family can do to help themselves and help society reverse the trend that has taken over 100,000 lives in just one year.

1. There is indeed an epidemic of drug abuse that will continue to take 100,000 lives by overdose unless we unite and take action to reverse course.
2. Synthetic opioids, primarily fentanyl drugs, are embedded now into most other drugs as a means of creating an addiction to the drug itself.
3. An overdose antidote called NARCAN has already saved the lives of thousands of individuals who might otherwise have died without it.
4. The state of addictions training among medical professionals in the US is appalling. Boston University’s Medical School is the only known example of weaving addictions education into all four years of study.
5. Family members can do a lot to help society reverse the trend in overdose deaths, to help other families heal, and to become a part of something greater than themselves.
