We will focus on the role of protectors—those inner parts that influence our sleep and stress management. 🧩
When Protectors Kick In:
- Traumatic events often activate our protectors.
- These responses stem from the mind of a child.
- Understanding their origins—both intellectual and emotional—helps us navigate stress and sleep challenges.
The Key: Acceptance of All Parts
- Anger, Frustration, No Willpower, Guilt, Shame, Shutting Down… All of these parts are protecting us.
- Instead of shutting them down and strategizing how to get rid of them, we need to get to know them.
- Unlike Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which aims to change behaviors, IFS focuses on understanding and integrating all parts.
- It’s about coexisting with our protectors rather than suppressing them.
